My Garden Escape

copper, bronze, silver 925, enamel and enamel paint, 150 x 110 x 35mm, 2026.

‘With the current price on silver, I have found that I have become more focused on objects rather than jewellery. With smaller, more considered uses of silver like in the garden tools and plant, the copper can be very striking and nice to work with but unfortunately isn't very wearable due to most people having allergies and reaction to it, hence why it has taken me away from jewellery. In the case of my garden escape, I wanted to make a little peaceful escape to immerse others in my happy place. I was happy with the details I was able to create in copper and finish off with sharp contrast of silver.’

Tia Churchill is an emerging jewellery designer, based in Melbourne, whose journey began with inheriting her nana’s engagement ring—an object rich in memory and meaning. This sparked her to create pieces inspired by small, overlooked details of everyday life, like bugs, coins, and textures. She reimagines these fragments through jewellery, celebrating quiet beauty and charm. Her work is designed to be wearable and displayable, carrying meaning on the body or as standalone objects. For Tia, jewellery-making is a continual process of creativity and self-discovery, as she continues to explore new ideas, push boundaries and share curiosity, stories and joy.
