My work uses collage and mixed media to explore the forms and textures of juxtaposed images to create previously unimagined stories. I am intrigued by the many possibilities collage elements bring to a composition which when cut, torn and multi-layered begin to relate a new narrative distinct from their original.
Using yellowed pages from vintage books, old photos and magazines, sheet music stained by time and frayed at the edges evokes feelings of nostalgia. Adding fragments of urban street posters reinforces a contemporary idiom. This process allows me to introduce disparate themes and concepts and bring them together to form an abstracted composition which has personal meaning to me, at the same time leaving the narrative open for interpretation by the viewer.
