More Life

Joshua Davison

17 Aug - 6 Sept

Please join us for the opening celebration Friday 21st August 6-8pm

‘More Life’ continues Joshua's exploration of the relationship between humanity and the natural world through acrylic polymer sculptural paintings and palette knife oil paintings. The exhibition reflects on the fleeting nature of organic life and humanity's instinct to preserve it, transforming delicate botanical forms into enduring, sculptural objects that exist between painting and sculpture, realism and abstraction.

Flowers and foliage become symbols of impermanence, growth, and renewal. Through slow, process-driven construction, each work embeds time, labour, and permanence into its surface, challenging the transient lifespan of the natural forms that inspire it. By merging botanical elements with subtle figurative forms, the works speak to the shared vulnerability of people and nature, emphasising coexistence rather than dominance.

‘More Life’ reflects Joshua's desire to give lasting form to moments that would otherwise fade. The exhibition represents a continued refinement of his evolving practice, further integrating sculptural acrylic polymer techniques with traditional palette knife oil painting. By bridging the gap between sculpture and painting, the works celebrate the symmetry, texture, and colour of the natural world while inviting viewers to slow down, observe, and reconnect with the beauty and resilience that surrounds them.
