Underglaze 2

Drewfunk

9-13 June 2026

Underglaze 2 is an exploration of Drewfunk's cultural identity drawn from his Malaysian heritage and decades of practice as a street artist. Drawing from 14th-century blue and white Chinese porcelain, these works reference the practice of cobalt pigment beneath a glaze, where imagery is embedded, preserved, and carried through time. The recognisable aesthetic quality of Chinese porcelain serves a point of visual anchor for Drewfunk to re-contexualise visual storytelling from the multitude nature of his own personal experiences.

This series of circular paintings on wood, alongside fine art prints and hand-painted porcelain, reflects a balance between tradition and contemporary expression.
