As a creature of habit, every morning I chop an apple with a big sharp knife. I find it pleasurable and relaxing. The core of every apple is unique. Sometimes I feel I am making breakfast and sometimes I feel that I am doing surgery, exposing a heart. I add sultanas and oats and often sing along as I make my porridge. I never imagined as a child that apple would be my favourite fruit. Stewed apple with cloves, apple turnover, apple pie. This work, titled ‘An apple’, is made from found second-hand wood.
