Rebecca Suares-Jury
Currently on show part of Top Shelf: an in-house curated space for small artworks, rotated monthly.
Rebecca Suares-Jury is a painter living and working in Naarm/Melbourne. Her process-led practice presents an imagined space of motif and colour, through intuitive painted gestures. Often referencing textiles and ornamentation from her Indian heritage, Suares-Jury’s work explores the decorative impulse found in everyday life, and seeks to uncover how adornment can be used as a means of connection.
Suares-Jury completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2024. Recent exhibitions include Spring1883 Art Fair with Mary Cherry Contemporary, The Distance of the Moon at Oddany Gallery and Falling Without Weight at Blindside ARI. She has also exhibited in group shows at The Fiona Sydney Myer Gallery, TCB Gallery and Footscray Community Arts Centre. She was the recipient of The Conners Conners Gallery Isaac Roberts Memorial Artist Opportunity (2024)
