UNE VIE ROMANTIQUE

Lea Thompson

1 - 12 July

Please Join us for the opening celebration Thursday 3rd July 6-8pm

Lea Thompson is proud to present Une vie romantique, an evocative solo exhibition by French-Australian artist and architect Lea Thompson, opening July 1st, 2025 in Melbourne. Featuring 19 artworks and a handmade book of original works on paper, the show explores the soft space between memory and perception, where landscapes dissolve into blurred surfaces.

‘Une vie romantique’ consists of 19 artworks of hazy depictions of nature and landscapes she has encountered in her life. Lea is drawn to the philosophy of perception. The idea that no two people see the world the same way. Our experiences, environments and stories shape what we notice, remember and how we feel. These paintings are not depictions of what she saw but how it made her feel. An attempt to capture the romantic aspect of life. An attempt to hold onto the ephemeral and make space for the beauty in the in-between.

Alongside the paintings, visitors will discover a limited-edition handmade book, bound and assembled by the artist herself, featuring small painted works on paper, an intimate continuation of the exhibition’s themes.
